Book Beginnings

Book Beginnings on Friday is now hosted by Katy at A Few More Pages.
Anyone
can participate; just share the opening sentence of your current read,
making sure that you include the title and author so others know what
you’re reading.
If you like, share with everyone why you do, or do not, like the sentence.

Eve

Eve by Ana Carey

“By the time the sun set over the fifty-foot perimeter wall, the School lawn was covered with twelfth year students.  The younger girls leaned out of the dormitory windows, waving their New America flags as we sang and danced.  I grabbed Pip’s arm and spun her around when the band played the fast number.  Her short, staccato laugh rose above the music.

It was the night before our graduation and we were celebrating.”

You can find my review of this book  here.

A good and festive beginning. I have a feeling that the festivities won’t continue…
